What If I Don’t Have Sufficient Bone Density for Dental Implants?
Have you been advised that you’re not a good candidate for dental implants due to insufficient jawbone density? At Fulbright Cosmetic & Reconstructive Dentistry, we may be able to help. Dr. Michael Fulbright, our skilled dentist, offers bone grafting – an advanced technique that can many times be utilized to help improve the structure and stability of the jawbone to the point that dental implants can be placed both safely and effectively.
For qualified patients, Dr. Fulbright will place one or more donor bone grafts into targeted areas of bone loss to help promote the growth of new tissues and regeneration of existing bone around the graft. To enhance this process, he often uses an all-natural leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) matrix created by drawing a small amount of your blood and separating fibrin from other elements in the sample. When placed in combination with a bone graft, this highly concentrated L-PRF matrix can generally help expedite healing as well as create a quality jawbone structure in which the dental implant(s) can eventually be positioned and permanently secured.
Ultimately, if you have been told in the past that you don’t have an adequate amount of jawbone density to be considered a candidate for dental implants, bone grafting with L-PRF may be able to considerably increase your chances of being qualified for implant surgery and achieving successful results.
